Cinema/Activism! What do you think?

Does a work of art (in this case FILM) have to comment on socio-political conditions in a direct way? Is it just a tool to address problems?

FILM must raise awareness about social issues, unjust scenarios and the miseries of the world?

Art must be a form of political activism? In this way it exists for the betterment of human settlements?

Or all of these questions are irrelevant; film will do all of this in one way or another, directly or indirectly, head-on or obscure?

What do you think?
